  1. Todd nailed it with why Carpenter is done. The man has been so beaten down by Hollywood stupidity and critical disdain that I’m not too surprised he has, by his own admission, just given up.

He has flat out stated (and often) that nowadays he only wants to sit back, smoke weed, play video games and cash sequel/remake cheques. And while his honesty and lack of pretension are admirable it’s also difficult to see an artist you admire express such a mercenary point of view.

I’ve felt for a long time that he needs to do a western with Kurt Russell. Just something small, maybe like Ed Harris’s APPALOOSA. Even if it’s for television. I think if Carpenter can get that western bug out of his system once and for all he might become inspired again.

But beyond the issue of inspiration to create, he’s just fed up with all the crap that goes along with getting a film made. His attitude is “I’ve got a good life, why bother with that bullshit?”

It’s a real shame, but he’s got a long line of great films to enjoy.

  2. Aha! I’d like to thank you for putting that Tommy Wiseau audio clip from ‘The Room’ up. But to be fair, you could play the entire audio of the film. 😛 I’d have also loved to hear “You are tearing me apart, Lisa!” What a great bad movie.

I loved the game this time around. 🙂 But my favourite still has to be the audition game you guys played in the Live Action Family Films podcast.

  3. My favorite thing about “Pitch Me” is how involved Stee gets in his pitches. The excitement in his voice when he describes the (spoiler alert?) meeting between Chris Klein, Anna Farris, and Peter Skarskarslkagh is awesome. “In an igloo. While ice fishing.” Brilliant.

  4. My pitch would have been “Leave it to Bieber”, a remake of A.I. but instead of going after the Blue Fairy he becomes a serial killer.
