The Josh Trank thing is interesting. In my opinion NOBODY voluntarily leaves a STAR WARS movie. Especially not a 30-year-old director with only one released feature to his name.
He got handed the greatest opportunity in the world and, for whatever reason, he fucked it up.
If it really was a case of him getting too much too soon and not being able to handle the pressure then I hope he sorts himself out.
From what I’ve been reading on the internets, the Fantastic Four movie didn’t go well and he’s difficult to work with. The fact that they didn’t quite use “creative differences” is the most telling element in my eyes. Disney let him save face, but in a way that still made it mostly his fault.
Oh, and BAD BOYS 2 is a fucking masterpiece.
It’s probably the most mean-spirited, racist, misanthropic, misogynistic, homophobic, excessively violent movie ever released by a major studio. And every day it remains unavailable on blu-ray the world is poorer for it.
I prefer Bad Boys Classic.
How was Bay not in jail yet? How was he missed?
Maybe DeNiro Clink needs to be investigated for corruption…
BAD BOYS 2 is one of the worst movies I have ever seen and I haven’t watched another Michael Bay movie since.
The problem with your hopeful rehabilitation of Bay is the theory that he was ever good in the first place.
For me THE ROCK is a good movie in spite of Michael Bay not because of him.
THE ROCK has three things going for it:
a) A terrific cast.
b) A good script.
c) A strong producer who reigned Bay in.
If you took out these three elements you’d have typical Bay garbage.
