Great podcast, guys!
I probably would have awarded the bottom five to all the Date Movie/Epic Movie movies.
And Jim Abrahams would like it known that the crazy right-wing member of Z.A.Z. is David Zucker, who directed several Scary Movies and the infamous American Carol.
There is a definite correlation between right-wing viewpoints and diminishing funny.
I got a bad cold and was feeling pretty miserable today then this appeared on my podcast feed and the day became a little bit brighter for a while. Thanks Pigs.
Some alternative double bills:
Moulin Rouge/Singin’ in the Rain: So you can see that musicals are much better when there isn’t a cut every second.
Total Recall/Scanners: Both give you some much needed Vitamin Ironside but Total Recall teases you with exploding heads but doesn’t deliver, so watch Scanners after to get the money shot.
Turner and Hooch/The Seventh Seal: Everything you wanted to know about death but were afraid to ask.
Tremors/Critters: Come on Falk this makes much more sense than Gremlins. Humanity attacked from the ground and the sky!
Police Academy: Mission to Moscow/Red Heat: Roles reversed!
PS.
Police Academy III/Deep Rising: For only the best jet ski action.
Turner and Hooch/The Seventh Seal is pretty inspired. And I am in favor of any mention of Deep Rising.
Fun episode, guys. One of the best.
I tend to avoid parody movies as a rule, but the last one I saw that I enjoyed to a surprising degree was NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE.
The script isn’t brilliant but the cast is, and they all commit to it and act the fuck out of that movie. That was also the first time I realised that Chris Evans has real comedy chops.
Todd’s double-feature game is a great idea. In fact, I think it’s a much more challenging and interesting game than Drew McWeeny’s ‘Movie God’ game.
And I’m sure it’s redundant by now, but MAJOR congratulations to Stee for having YOU’RE THE WORST renewed. Todd’s character is such a boor, he’s hilarious to watch.
Nice podcast loved hearing Tara and Dave too.
I’m utterly convinced that the sole reason for existence for the Scary Movies and Haunted Houses is to get some royality money to KC and the Sunshine band for “I’m your boogey man” that is played in all the trailers. Follow the money, I bet it leads there…
Thanks for listening!
It would be awesome to scour the books on those movies and see how much was written off for tax purposes.
